Introduction: Up to 96% of adolescents with cancer experience pain related to the disease, invasive procedures and treatment. Pain represents a significant cost burden to the health care system and families. Moreover, it negatively impacts adolescent health-related quality of life. So, patients should be able to take care of themselves and manage pain. Telephone interventions can reduce the costs of treatment in addition to support and control of cancer patients. The aim of this study was to investigate effectiveness of telephone interventions for pain management in adolescents with cancer. Methods: This review article was conducted in 2024. In order to review the articles, the keywords telephone, pain, self-management, adolescents, cancer were searched in PubMed, Scopus, ISI, Google Scholar databases during 2019-2024 in English sources. 45 English articles related to the research were found that 6 articles were reviewed due to the topic similarity with the present study. Results: Pain due to the disease, invasive procedures and treatment impair physical and psychology function in adolescents with cancer, leading to a lower quality of life and increase emergency service use. To reduce pain, such patients are therefore required to follow-up. The following up of cancer patients is the responsibility of nurses. Telephone interventions is the most modern method that can provide quality care to patients after discharge to reduce pain. Conclusion: The use of telephone interventions can help patients improve their symptom monitoring, change their behavior, feel empowered and willing to care for themselves. Telephone interventions also have the potential to further reduce hospitalization and prevent unnecessary costs. Keywords: Telephone, Pain, Self-management, Adolescents, Cancer
