Introduction: Children with diabetes who have surgery are susceptible to experiencing hypoglycemia following surgery. Hypoglycemia induces symptoms like tremors, perspiration, appetite, cognitive disorientation, impaired eyesight, and seizures. In extreme instances, it might result in a state of unconsciousness or mortality. This study aims to examine the factors that impact the decrease in the likelihood of hypoglycemia in children with diabetes who are undergoing surgery. Methods: A comprehensive investigation was carried out in both Persian and English languages, both individually and in conjunction, with a range of databases and search engines including Google Scholar, Scopus, WOS, SID, ISC, and PubMed. The scope of our investigation centered on the subjects of "diabetes", "hypoglycemia", "pediatric" and "surgery”. Our study encompassed a total of 10 publications published without timeframe. Results: Our research shows that a number of things can effectively and significantly lower the risk of postoperative hypoglycemia in children with diabetes who are having surgery. These include precisely controlling blood sugar levels (by adjusting insulin and other diabetic medications prior to the surgery), following evidence-based treatment protocols (such as giving intravenous fluids, electrolytes, and glucose), and teaching patients and their families about the risks of hypoglycemia and how to avoid it. Conclusion: Given the challenges associated with hypoglycemia in pediatric patients with diabetes, it is essential that all healthcare professionals, including surgeons, physicians, and nurses, receive the necessary education in order to reduce the risk of postoperative hypoglycemia in these children. Additionally, they should acquire the essential knowledge about the problems caused by hypoglycemia in children.
